About NLO

NLO, a leading IP-firm based in the Netherlands and Belgium, is also growing and looking for an additional partly qualified or EQE certified Patent Attorney with a background within Software or AI, to help our clients navigate the patent system.

You will join a team of experienced patent attorneys who have come from differing backgrounds: industry or previous IP firms, but who share the same vision of what IP should mean to a company.

What you will be doing as a Patent Attorney

As a patent attorney, you play an important role in bringing innovation to the market. Thanks to the combination of your technical expertise and your legal skills, you deal with varied patent issues at national and international clients. Every day you explore different topics for a wide variety of clients. You will be focusing on clients in the software and AI industry.

You have a strong personality who can impart knowledge and experience across the team when required but who can also show consistent high work output. You advise inventors, heads of research, in-house attorneys and commercial leaders. You help them protect their inventions, knowledge and intellectual property. You actively support them managing and developing their patent portfolio. You work closely with your team to achieve the best results. You will work in a matrix team structure, with other attorneys within your team and at various stages of qualification and experience.

Your professional qualities

Besides a university degree and a completed Masters/ PhD in the field of e.g. Software, AI, telecommunication or electronics, you recognize yourself in the following competencies:

You have demonstrable business acumen and knowledge with the ability to quickly understand key IP issues relating to a business and their commercial developments.
You are a confident self-starter with drive and ambition to establish new client relationships, build business and expand the NLO's global offering.
You will have a proven ability to work as part of a team - an ability to motivate and inspire others towards a common goal is especially helpful.
You will also have strong emotional intelligence in order to build relationships with colleagues, create and maintain client relationships.
In addition, you will possess excellent listening and communication skills with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
To achieve prosperous results, you will have excellent negotiation skills.
Importantly, you will be capable of acting upon your own initiative. You will have independence of thought and an autonomous, proactive approach to your work.

Your working conditions - what do we offer?

This is a full time position (38.75 hours). NLO offers an international working place with colleagues of many different nationalities, with English as the working language.

Working hybrid is the new normal: that means a combination of working at the office and from home. Of course, we ensure that you have a pleasant workplace at home, including an office chair, laptop and work phone. For this position we prefer the person to work at our office in Eindhoven.
