What you will be doing as a Patent information specialist

You will investigate questions about patent information at the request of patent attorneys and report your findings. You advise them on the search strategy to be applied, deliver and analyse data sets for the purpose of novelty searches, oppositions and freedom-to-operate studies. You set up, implement and expand the Search & Watch services. You also inform clients and agents about developments within the field and maintain contact with regular clients about surveillance work.

In the area of knowledge management, you organise and manage the accessibility of patent information, both digitally and through other media. You develop search strategies, describe and evaluate their effectiveness and collect relevant documentation. You decide on acquisition and manage and develop the knowledge management system for patent information. You disseminate knowledge within NLO through professional consultations, articles and the NLO Academy. In addition, you act as a point of enquiry for employees of client teams in the documentary field and attend conferences, seminars and professional group meetings to keep your knowledge up to date.

 

Are you the patent information specialist we are looking for?

We are looking for someone with a completed academic degree in chemical engineering, preferably as an information specialist, documentalist or in a similar field. You have:

  • several years of relevant work experience;
  • thorough knowledge of and experience with documentation and knowledge management systems. Patent databases such as Orbit and STN is a plus;
  • knowledge of patent law and patent processes (is an advantage);
  • excellent writing skills in both Dutch and English.

  • monthly salary of € 3.900 – 5.600
